Jill Mackeen

Choir Manager and compere.

Jill is retired from a career as a Registered Nurse specialising in Operating Theatre Practice. She spent 9 years as a Senior Manager before leaving the NHS to work as a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Health at Edge Hill University teaching on the Operating Department Practitioners Degree Programme.

It was through a contact at Rotary that Jill joined the choir in January 2011 as a member of the alto section.  Jill worked with the previous Choir Manager to help arrange concerts and gain experience before finally taking over the role of Choir Manger in January 2018.

 

Katie Rooney

Musical Director

Hi, I’m Katie and I’ve been Musical Director with The Peninsula Singers since September 2024.

Having studied music at Huddersfield University, specialising in the trumpet, I have enjoyed 27 years of teaching and leading music departments in secondary schools. I now work full time at The Hammond School in Chester and also really enjoy accompanying, directing musical theatre productions and leading my choirs.

In my very limited free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, going to the theatre and cake decorating!

Victoria Wells

Deputy Musical Director

Victoria Wells, formerly  teacher of music and performing arts at the Birkenhead Sixth Form College in Claughton Village. She has directed many talented students in a variety of productions and concerts including Fame, Sweet Charity and Our House.

She was born in the Wirral and has played piano since a young age.  Some of her earliest public performances included playing duets with the internationally renowned concert pianist, Stephen Hough.  She has also been privileged to accompany a wide and varied range of instrumentalists giving recitals throughout the North West.

As our Deputy MD Victoria is responsible for co-leading the choir and ensuring we are ‘concert ready’.   To enable this she creates all the learning aids used to study at home.

Jeanette Jarrel

Choir Treasurer and Ticket Secretary

Jeanette is one of the choirs Trustees, the Treasurer, and has now also taken on the role of Ticket Secretary
